Unknown Disease – India

August 2, 2021 – One reported case and death of a 25 year old woman with an undiagnosed/unknown infectious disease. This infectious disease was present after post-operative delivery complication at the Mata Kaushalya Hospital in India. The source states that approximately six similar cases were reported within the Gynecology Department of Mata Kaushalya Hospital within the last two weeks.

Etiology of the disease is unknown. Some of the symptoms and conditions reported that were similar among the cases include anuria and scrub typhus,

Current efforts that are being taken to mitigate and investigate the unknown infectious disease include closure of the gynecology department at the clinic for 72 hours, application of insecticides in areas such as labor rooms, and investigation of drugs and laundry. The disease is still under investigation.
