One person died, and 9 others fell sick after consuming a spurious toddy drink in Dhar district on Sat 13 Feb 2021. (Toddy is a type of palm wine made from the fermented sap of coconut palm flowers.)
10 villagers including three minors were admitted at a local clinic after they complained of vomiting and diarrhea. The victims said that they felt a difference in the taste of toddy and later, they started feeling giddiness and collapsed, while some others suffered fits.
As the condition of seven villagers deteriorated the doctors referred them to Barwani district hospital. One person of them died on the way to Barwani. The condition of those admitted at the hospital are said to be stable.
